So far, I have been 4 times to the Philippines , and visiting many small and big cities , i came to the conclusion that Davao city is my favourite spot . The only problem for me is the anti-smoking ban system in the city , because i am a smoker, so, I just smoke in hidden corners .

i’m slightly confused,davao city is supposed to be safest city in philippines,yet u.k gov website says all of mindanao is unsafe to travel to.can someone explain please.
Hi, Was in Davao myself recently and meet up with lovely locals and was warned not to venture outside of Davao or catch buses into the hinterland. Gangs of militants will attack the bus just for food because they are starving up there in bush and of course will kidnap any foreigners. Never had any problems in Davao city but you get a few “looks” walking around the fringing barangays. There are not many foreigners in Davao but really is a truly beautiful setting of lush landscapes, volcanoes, tropical islands and beautiful women! Avoid other cities in Mindanao seems to be good advice. Am heading back to Davao shortly (from Australia) to swim and dive in those beautiful waters.
Davao is also a place who is not perfect as we know. We all know Davao is safest place but we all do have these problems that some of us Davaowenyos do something wrong for you all foreigners because of the shortage of food and lack of support by the government. We are very sorry for making you get frightened of what happened about the news. I’m not saying that we’re just human, its hard to do right, but its not the reason why you all foreigners are afraid to go back here in Philippines, I’m not pushing you to get pity of us, I just want you to understand people. It is Good News or Bad News for us??? Well, people have positive and negative notions about the trending news but for me, I definitely says that DAVAO CITY is the best place where my friends, families, and special someone to live safe and away from any violence.
