World’s Biggest Pearl Found in Palawan

The Philippines is indeed the “Pearl of the Orient”.

The news went viral in social media when a Filipino fisherman from Palawan found and kept this world’s biggest pearl for almost a decade without knowing its value. He kept it inside his house just for “good luck”.

A man turned over the giant pearl to the Puerto Princesa Tourism Office after changing residency lately.

One day when they were sailing, a typhoon was on their way making their anchor got stuck on a giant clam.

This giant pearl found in Palawan weighs 34 kilograms, 2.2 feet long and 1 foot wide. If this is really an authentic pearl, this will be the biggest pearl in the world.

The current record holder is only 6.4 kilograms named as “the Pearl of Lao Tzu”.

The Tourism Office of Puerto Princesa City right now is seeking help from the Gemologist Institute for the authentication of this giant pearl.

It is now on the New Green City Hall in Puerto Princesa open for public viewing.
