Most of us want to live in a city where we can grow and live a life. A city where there are beautiful parks, good people, plenty of places to hang out, huge malls, and good transportation. Some may also want a city where they can choose and live in luxurious hotels or condo’s, amazing restaurants and bars. Many will want to stay in most progressive cities in the Philippines where they can excel in career and in life.
Yes, most of us have our own ideal city we want to live. There are many experts in this field ranking what are the most livable cities in the Philippines.
Ranking could include how many parks a city has. It can also be determined by malls, cultures, safety, transportation, infrastructures, peace and order, poverty rate, unemployment rate and more. There is a whole lot more criteria to choose from and would led to a biased result if some criteria are not included.
So what if we can look at this the other way around. Instead of few experts to decide, what if there is a voting system out there so people living in the city and experts can share their ideas and vote for the most livable cities in the Philippines?
The good thing is there is! So we don’t have to argue why this city is better than that?
The Top Tens, a website that uses a voting system to determine the Top 10’s of Everything around the world, posted “Top 10 Cities in the Philippines”.

Proud to be ilongo!!!
Iloilo is the Best! and the centre of Business in western visayas.

Visit Iloilo during Dinagyang Festival, thats every 4th sunday of January and experience the Ilonggo culture at its best. You may also want to taste different Ilonggo cuisine, of course not to missed is the famous La Paz Batchoy. Iloilo has a lot to offer… explore our unspoiled island and beaches in Isla de Gigantes and Sicogon in Carles, Concepcion among others… so what are you waiting for Discover My Beautiful ILOILO Now!!!
Roxas City – Seafood Capital of the Philippines , I’ve been here this city a month ago and i saw a lot of potential to be one of the highly urbanized city soon! I love to stay here , the economy are fast growing .
Malayo na gid man naabot sang ciudad. I’m so happy to read this articles and proud to be an Ilongo.
WOW…ILOILO…..CONGRATULATION !!!!!
SALUTE…..to authentic Queen City of the South. Bravo…. ILOILO CITY.
tikalon…
ILO-ILO is the Queen’s City of the South while CEBU is the Queen City of the South (see the difference).. Do you know your history?
It is spelled as Iloilo not Ilo-Ilo, learn the correct spelling. No matter what the Cebuano’s say, there is no difference in the title, the title of Cebu as the Queen City of the South was only based from the title of Iloilo City as Queen’s City of the South, wrong spelling nga lang, tulad din ng pagka-wrong spelling mo. The title was given to Iloilo City by the Queen of Spain for a reason, and the reason was never because of the progress of the city like what the Cebuanos claim, it was given because the Ilonggos became allies of the Spaniards who fought to conquer, they shed blood, they gave up their lives for their cause, that is the reason behind that title. Even the history states that Cebu only claimed the title thru media, there was never a proper proclamation of the title that Cebu is the “Queen City nor the Queen’s City of the South.” After WWII, Iloilo City was devastated because it was once the capital during the Spanish-colonial period, and because of that, the enemies focused their attacks on the city to weaken the defense, and by that time Cebu just continued to progress while Iloilo City has to pick up the remains from the rubble, the once rich city that no city can be compared to was turned into a remnant of war,and that was the time Cebu took the title because Iloilo City was left behind. Just like an opportunist, instead of helping someone during the tragedy, they instead snatched away what is left while the victim is still helpless. As of now, by decree, by legalities, Iloilo City still holds the title of “Queen’s City of the South.” It doesn’t matter which city is more progressive, because it was not the reason why the title was given. Why do you even question when you yourself don’t even know the history? You people cannot accept the facts and logic, you still want to push your ignorance to defend yourselves. Get your facts straight, do your research and don’t just based it on hearsay! Whatever you say Iloilo City still bears the title, and only the ignorant cannot accept.
It’s already past.
funny how the sister cities, Iloillo and Bacolod
are top of the list XD
Ilonggos make for great people XD
yes…Iloilo is to England as Negros Occidental is to America.. the more adventurous Ilonggos moved over to the island of Negros when it was opened for migration by the Spanish colonial government back then in the 1600s, and thus creating the current generation of “Negrosanons”….
This made me understand who we are as Ilongos, We have the best of both cities in the Phil. My great grandparents were from Iloilo but I was born and raised in Bcld. The mayor of the city was my college classmate. So proud!
Grew up in Bacolod, lived in Cebu for 19 years, now in QC for 5. Hit 3 of 10. not bad. Still Bacolod for me. Iloilo sleeps early, Davao too restricted. 😉
Your statement about Iloilo could be true if made 2 or 3 years ago. However, if you have been to the City of Love lately, economic activities are very much alive, up until the wee hours of the morning. The City is now bustling with 24 hour convenience stores, coffeeshops, bars and restaurants. Jeepneys are visible during night time and people tend to be more into healthy lifestyle as shown by numerous zumba fitness club scattered all around the City.
Actually, Mr. Varela’s statement is true 10 years ago. Last time I was in Iloilo was 2009 and even at that point, people don’t sleep early anymore.
Bacolod is the second best livable cities .. Proud to be bacolodnon…
I would agree with Iloilo but NOT Bacolod. Majority of people from Bacolod most especially those that belong to the middle and lower classes are simply TIKALON. They look down to people from Ilo-ilo and Cebu. I used to hear this phrase before, “Ka-manumanol sa imo bala, daw Cebuano ka! O taga Iloilo man! During the sugar-years, people from Bacolod would always say: “sa amon ya, ang kuarta ginapiko ginapala”. And when they go to other places here in Cebu and other places in the Visayas, they speak Tagalog. Why would they do that? I have nothing against Tagalog as I grew up in Manila. But when you have the accent and pretend to be from Manila, even if you’re not, is another story. DAMO GID TIKALON NGA TAGA BACOLOD!
What a comment from a narrowminded.the ‘guina piko guina pala’ is figurative. It means piko n pala is the source of income 4 us.magpanilag
i know its figurative. its the manner how it was presented and said upon. you don’t have to always say that to people, do you? moreso if this person was in dire need of money.
Come on Bros don’t start a cold war .. Iloilo VS Bacolod … I love both…peace….ha ha ha…both ga kaon man namit , like.. kaon na bala, kaon ta eh, kaon table .. diin ka kita sa Pinas ga kaon sang amo na.. joke lang ni Bros….LOL
The best example. 🙂
That’s what Jeremy Cruz is talking about, Mr. Soriano. ☺
I’ve witnessed it myself. I have relatives in Bacolod. They and their friends are alike. From the bragging to looking down to their ka-visayan and the tagalog thing. Why would somebody from Bacolod refuses to talk in Ilonggo even if she is in Cebu or any other cities in the Visayas? Is it something most people from Bacolod are ashamed of? I mean, why? Magpaka-tutoo naman kayo. Its ok to speak Tagalog. But if you’re hiding something, that’s another story.
On the other hand, I have utmost respect to some people from Bacolod who are true and real. Sadly, they only represent a lower percentage of the population there.
Jeremy, are you tagalog? as a Bacolodnon living and working in Makati, i’ll speak in English so you’ll understand and not because i’m “hiding” something LOL, in Cebu, people speak Cebuano, in Samar and Leyte people speak Waray-waray, but almost all other parts of Visayas, Cebuano is the main Dialect, Ilonggo is only spoken in Western Visayas(Negros Occidental and Panay) and some parts of Mindanao, Cebuano is different from Ilonggo, personally, i understand Cebuano because i’m naturally able to(my brain configuration perhaps), but i cannot speak Cebuano so therefore i speak tagalog if i’m in Cebu, if i spoke Ilonggo to a Cebuano they would not understand me, gets?
also, there is no “Bisaya” dialect, it’s really Cebuano but people from Luzon always mention Bisaya so anybody from Visayas would play along, my officemates would always ask me what a word was in Bisaya, and so i would give them the Cebuano and the Ilonggo translation.
maybe your relatives and their friends are the only ones that are tikalon, birds with the same feathers flock together ika nga, i couldn’t imagine you knowing everyone in Bacolod from your “visits” there, and if you’re just visiting Bacolod for some time and only have your braggy relatives and their friends as comparative source, you’re not really credible to make a generalization of an entire city based on your very limited exposure.
the only Bacolodnons that look down on other people from other cities are those that are “less travelled” from the lower-income bracket who are generally bastos to everyone including other Bacolodnons, they would also make bad remarks about people from Manila as being bastos or maingay, but that’s because they never have been to Manila and take all their information from their friends who are as “less travelled” as they are and only have tsismis as source.
living in Metro Manila for a few years now, different people are in different cities, merong bastos talaga ang ugali at merong mababait at magagalang kahit saan mn nanggaling, the only reason i could get why people i personally know here in Makati say that Ilonggos like me are really malalambing and mababait is because the only Ilonggo that are able to travel, work and live here are those that have the money for a proper education, proper etiquette training, and generally raised in a good home in a good neighborhood with a good environment.
Hi, I know nga medyo dugay na ni imo comment pero gusto ko gid ya magreply. Taga Negros ko, not from bacolod specifically pero everytime nga maglagaw kami sa iban nga siudad we usually speak in tagalog if mai gina istorya kmi nga indi ka intsindi ilonggo. I never been to CEbu pero bati ko mga bisaya na to didto… Peace 🙂
Jeremy cruz agi ka.. kaayoha mag commento. iloilo and bacolod both ilonggo’s, you should act like one not to humble your side. Agi ka.
Reply pada… riot? hambal lang. reach me at email below apingbaylon@gmail.com.
Had classmates before from Bacolod. I could say that they’re bit “tikalon” but considerable.. hehhee
im from bacolod and i always go to cebu every year… yes i speak tagalog when im in cebu because i cant really understand and i dont know how to speak Cebuano… i guess there’s nothing wrong with it… i have nothing against u people of cebu beacuse i love ur city… 🙂
KALABANAN ILONGGO INDI KABALO MAG CENEBUANO AMO NA NGA NAGA TAGALOG SILA.
That’s right coz im doing it myself as i dont know how to speak cebuano nor understand. So i used tagalog even im not that fluent. The main thing is people there will understand u and so them!
The reason why Philippines is not developing because of people like who think highly of yourself & think less of others. I think you are an arrogant & judgemental person.
Jejeje…natawa aq dto…everytime sinasabihan q c hubby tga bacolod k he would say hindi ah…my conotation kc pag tga bacolod…even sa place ni hubby sinasabi nla iba ugali ng tga bacolod ksa tga ilo2…f magtanong kau sa tga ilo2 un din isasagot nla…ilo2 is fast growing city…dami ng developments ngayon…i love ilo2 but still i prefer living in davao city…
Ga lungo man ang akon abyan, ti siling niya TIKALON GID SIGURO sang taga Negros Occidental or Bacolodnon. Amo na nga rason wala ko gana nga magpamilya sa Negros tungod sang lain nga cultura, maayo sa pag sinalayo pero pag abot sa pag ginawi damo wastage, tungod siguro sa naaguman sa economy sg preperential rights sa pagbakal sg sugar above world market by the Americans in exchange for the use of Subic Naval Base and Clark Air Base aside from the military and economic aid given to the Philippines. Salamat but I am still proud to be a Negrense. Magandang Araw Po!
I strongly agree.
🙂 but still we love Ilo-ilo parang magkapatid lang ang 2 Cities na yan.. <3
but still we are both from philippines and degrade our nationality..i think its still the same saying against your co filipino na “tikalon”is the same telling na :cebuano ” or what ever the negative things we address for one another..
we are addressing same negative thing to our co filipino, saying “tikalon” ang taga negros is the same saying “manol” ang taga ilo ilo or cebuano or whatever..still both filipino are speaking against one another, foriegner never and they dont know about this…
iloilo city, proud for my city and with a strong economy
After 38 yrs in america, we decide to built our retirement home iloilo..
Glad we did it!
Iloilo City, Roxas City and Bacolod City of Western Visayas. 🙂 Great Job. 🙂
I liked to admired this beautiful country. Full of very talented people. She has the most beautiful voices and I heard all songs are sensational, also and seen on youtube (following) the different cities and provinces and I really like. I congratulate the creators of this product very well done, showing so much natural beauty and volcanoes, caves, beaches, beautiful, is. I have to go and visit one day. I will share to facebook and twitter to my friends so they know all the beautiful things you have this beautiful country, Cancin greetings from Mexico.
(Tourist Spots Finder used google translate for the comment)
Iloilo indeed is a beautiful place to live in. But I disagree with the comment that one can walk through its streets and wave his phone as no one would try to steal it. Recently, there have been reports of cellphone snatching around the city, even in broad daylight. And the number increases by the day.
Despite of this, I still believe that compared to other cities in the country, Iloilo is the best place to live in.
DAVAO! 😀 9th Safest City in the World. Sooooo Proud Davaoeno.
Iloilo puluy-an sang mga dungganon…Mabilog sing it
Congrats IloIlo City. Non smoking city =)
Bacolod is the best… U can wave ur cellphone while walking on streets.. U can even wear ur jewelries w/ no worries 🙂
What kind of cellphone?hehe i gues lowtech..i knw people in bacolod are atik…claiming that baculaw is the center of excellence..how come ur mang inasal skol its not in the list among the top univ in phil.
Wow! A sharp tongue! You really showed the true color of where you came from. Read the history, FYI, Iloilo City is still the bearer of the title of “Queen’s City of the South,” Cebu only claimed title thru media, but by decree, by law, Iloilo City still holds the title, no proper proclamation was given to Cebu. Ilonggos do not need to regain anything that is still rightfully theirs’. You are an imbecile, you don’t know how to set your facts straight but just based it on your emotions and hearsay! You are the only person who says that about Ilonggos, maybe ikaw ang masama ang ugali, kaya may nakaaway kang Ilonggo. So pathetic! Mali-mali pa grammar mo, if you want to defend, better defend it by promoting your city’s assets not by hating Iloilo, people like you are the cause why it’s hard for the country to progress. You do not even have a basis for your hate, you just hate what others love because you cannot accept it. You really are pathetic!
The thing is, Philippines is a great place to live in. I am proud to be a Filipino. I am an ilonggo
Iloilo try to explore islas de gigantes truly virgin island with very clear water.
Davao City is the king city of the south.
5th richest city in the Philippines for years.
Iloilo and Bacolod should stop bickering at each other, just leave the hate and bloodshed on the soccer field. My Mom’s from Negros and my Dad’s from Iloilo, best of both worlds.
Awesome list! Well, it’s not deniable that Philippines itself is a lively country. I’m glad I’ve grown in this beautiful nation. Proud Filipina here! Thanks for sharing!
I’m glad that I was born here in the Philippines…. And a proud CEBUANO..
We lived in Iloilo for two years. My father got promoted so he had to move to the regional office, and we joined him later. Earning potential in Iloilo was better, and our house was bigger there. But, the problem was the WATER!!! So, we moved back to Bacolod and lived in a smaller house because we could not find a bigger place close to our relatives. The water was in abundance, the air was fresher and the streets were broader!
Iloilo is more progressive than Bacolod. However, Bacolod is aesthetically more beautiful and easier to commute and live, overall.
Bacolod is the best place to be with.. Progressive yet the ambiance is more on a province. Wide streets and safe place.. I went many times in Iloilo but I really not impress..
strongly agree….BACOLOD CITY HAS A WIDE AREA of expansion than ILOILO CITY.Maybe ILOILO CITY is ahead than BACOLOD CITY today but in the coming years, i dont think so. BACOLOD CITY is the second largest city in visayas second to cebu city.
Marikina City is better than Makati and Quezon City in Metro Manila
Through the good governance of the province of iloilo we experience now a great place to live with..PROUD ILONGGO!!
Proud to be a Filipino… My husband is an Ilonggo, although we don’t live in Iloilo, I agree that Iloilo is a very nice, beautiful and livable city in the Phils. I’ved been there few times, because we both work here in abroad, and everytime we took our vacation we always go there to visit our relatives that’s why I told my husband that I want us to build our retirement house in Iloilo. I really love that place…
“work here in abroad” what kind of English is that?
I would agree with Iloilo but NOT Bacolod. Majority of people from Bacolod most especially those that belong to the middle and lower classes are simply TIKALON. They look down to people from Ilo-ilo and Cebu. I used to hear this phrase before, “Ka-manumanol sa imo bala, daw Cebuano ka! O taga Iloilo man! During the sugar-years, people from Bacolod would always say: “sa amon ya, ang kuarta ginapiko ginapala”. And when they go to other places in the Visayas, like Cebu, they speak Tagalog. Why would they do that? I have nothing against Tagalog as I grew up in Manila. But when you have the accent and pretend to be from Manila, even if you’re not, is another story. DAMO GID TIKALON NGA TAGA BACOLOD!
Philippines will never progress with people who have mindset like this. Its ok to compare I mean do it all you want but be fair. Never generalize! You think bashing another city will make your city look pretty? Think again Mr Cruz. Educate yourself that appreciating is far better that Bashing! Language is another thing you have to fix your opinion about, I am living in cebu and I occasionally use tagalog to communicate and that is because no matter how I try cebuano is not my mother tongue and Im not well at it. You think that’s a problem? As the history says most of bacolod’s ancestors are from Iloilo so if you think were Tikalon where do you think it came from? From the core right?
Let us be mature enough. stop bickering about Bacolod or iIoilo. If Iloilo is number one now thats because more projects and investment was poured in that city compared to Bacolod. More to blame is local politics in Bacolod. Im pretty sure sooner Bacolod will top next time . Big investments and projects are on the way. So “Ugyon kita Bacolodnon /Negrosanon aton ini” Bacolod has a lot more to offer. One Island One Region. NEGROS ISLAND REGION
I’ve been to a lot of places in the world but iloilo remains triumphant in my heart.
KITA NGA TAGA BACOLOD, NEGROS NA SA DI BALA? KG KITA NGA TAGA ILOILO, SA PANAY NA SA DI BALA? BULOLIGAY LNG, MAGING ISA LNG KITA, INDI NGA MAGBATUHAY SNG DI MAAYO KY WALA GD NA ABTAN SNG GNATAWAG NGA PROGRESO. TANAN KITA MAAYO, MAPUSLAN KG MY IPABUGAL SA KADAM-AN NGA KITA NGA ILONGGO, KARAY-A O BISAYA K MN MY IPABUGAL SA PINAS KG SA BUONG MUNDO… “UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL”…
at last somebody who has sense and a good heart, now that is why we are proud, we are the fruit of the tree and the soil where we are were planted…
I Am a British Expat living in Iloilo City.
I totally agree with Iloilo City being in the top position, I have lived here for 6 years and have been totally accepted by it’s people and have always felt very safe.
The Mayor Jed P Mabilog has been at the forefront of change in recent years and it shows, so much investment has been flowing into Iloilo now, good governance pays off, investors know that if they come to Iloilo City they will be warmly welcomed.
If na done ang san juanico bridge, why not likewise.Amo na ina pag boom more sang local/international tourists and Iloilo/bacolod maging best of both worlds.
I have to agree on Ilo-ilo and Bacolod. This is a very informative list.
Naks nag-viral oh 🙂 congrats 🙂
Bakit wala Tagaytay City at Santa Rosa City ?
Crab mentality, when i went to bacolod i am impressed when time passed by familiarity turns impression to depression. When I stay to iloilo familiarity also changes pride to a status quo. Let us look to people, place, party and prestige yet at the end these things will not stay. They changes good thing betterment happens.
For my lifestyle the perfect city will have a supermarket, gas station, post office, public market and 2 bars (just in case I want a change-of-pace). Then I want to live 15 km away from it.
Congrats to my Beloved City! Iloilo City!
I would probably choose Cebu City! With it comes to development Iloilo still far behind from the second most important city in our country. Investment? try to check your dictionary. Try to to visit Cebu and you will be shock or amaze of Cebu’s economy now! Cebu is rank number 8 in the Tholon’s survey about BPO industry,s second biggest metropolitan center, second busiest seaport. second busiest international airport, second most admired skyscrapers city in the Philippines… Where is your city???????????
agree!!! proud cebuano
Is Ilo-ilo still the Queen City of the South?i Thought it’s Cebu.
People just don’t read properly, or do they even know how to comprehend an article. The article says that the ranking was based on different criteria and not on how tall the buildings are. People like you should be dump to a wasteland. Just plain stupid. You are the reason why the country cannot progress because you cannot accept the mere fact that has been slapped to your face. All you want to do is to pull someone down when you see them progressing. Crab mentality at its peak!
so u better eat more sacks of rice….
nami gid ya bacolod ya
Yes iloilo is indeed a great place to live.. ilonggos are friendly and closely knitted… most of them are kind and generous..and iloilo is the football capital.. when I was a kid.. all our plaza and the open parks usially have football courts.. it was retained in schools like central philippines university , west visayas state university and proud to say our Barotac nuevo survived and got to hand down the sports until today to our youths.. Iloilo once was the boxing center in the philippones we hadgood boxers and boxing arena. The father of a popular actor charlie dabao owned it.. we were able to have good boxers too like pancho villa sharkie and a lot more. But then the sports died with him.
we also do good in baseball winning even on international competitions.. we too have good and world famous chessgrandmasters like eugene torre.. we too have ilonggos popular swimmer like heidi coloso and eric buhain..guimo alcantara..bacolod became popular in sports when gpv. Montelibano highly supported their athletics.. they became a number one sports center with best athletes.. specially in sprint and basketball.. I just hope that we shate the achievements and beautiful stories of our beautiful place to live and e njoy such a beautiful life where we belong. God bless
still bacolod
Cebu is still number one!…..I can smell ” TIKALON here hahahah.Loser!
Bacolod is not the BEST, but BETTER than the others.
Bsan diin lng da # 1 mn o #100 basta malipayon mlng kita? hahaha
I think I’m not convinced that Iloilo is in the topmost position being the most livable city. Iloilo has only limited things to offer, when it comes to tourist attraction, they don’t have nice beaches or mountain resorts or even in the city itself only old churches you could found. In some other places there’s a lot of century old churches also, I mean things that’s unique naman na wala sa ibang provinces ang maaring ioffer nyo naman na kung na sa paglisan mo sa Iloilo there’s something na di malilimutan. I think Bacolod City or Negros Occ. had, like the new Campuestohan Highland Resort, The Ruins, Mambukal Summer Resort, in Sipalay, Bago, and Cadiz Cities has other beautiful beaches and resort also and not only beautiful tourist destination that Bacolod City had to be offered. From delicious cuisines and sports amenities, Bacolod City had that. For me Bacolod City still in no. 2 but I guess Cebu City is the no.1 and Iloilo is no.5, no. 3 Davao and no. 4 Cagayan de Oro City.
If you were able read the article properly, the rankings was based on different categories not on the tourist spots alone. The article is talking about the livable cities not the most beautiful beaches, whatever. If you have been to other parts of Iloilo like Carles, Concepcion, which are famous for their white sand beaches and sand bars, Lambunao for their numerous waterfalls, Leon for the little Baguio experience, and a lot more, then you are someone who cannot appreciate the beauty of nature in Iloilo. However, If you are someone who have just been in one place in Iloilo and only traveled for thee old churches, then stop bragging, it won’t do you anything. Tikalon!!!
Cebu City is Number One, it is clean,,it is economically developed,,the tourism and real estate industry is booming. It is so highly industrialized, I hardly seen slums in that city.
At least Iloilo makes sure to balance the progress of the city with the environment. Not like Cebu, all you can see are buildings, and pollution, a time will come that it will be like Manila, a lot of criminals, polluted air, super heavy traffic, and meany people will be so stressed of the life in Cebu. Because Iloilo City, unlike Cebu, knows the limitation, that it is good to be progressive but not with the cost of its environment.
Oooohh..two ilonggo cities are in the top two, but why are you both bickering and shading each other? Tsk tsk… crab mentality talaga.
I had visited Iloilo on several occasions, and I have to say that it’s deserving of its title. Esplanade, plazuela, miagao church, lapaz batchoy, dinagyang, etc, and there are still a lot of places under construction. It makes me excited for what that city would offer years from now. I had also visited bacolod once (specifically, the ruins). It was also a really great place. I hope I could visit there again.
every places in the philippines does have their unique features. gani kita nga mga ilonggo ndi kia mg gub anay.. kay sa ulihi..bisan anu mag ka hitabo isa lng ta ka linguahi.. kag laban mn nga mga tag occidental nga pamilya halin mn sa ilo2.? gina himo lng ta kaladlawan sang iban tungod sa mga pa indis2 ta..
Davao @ 4!!;)) whoa!
#LifeisHere
Congrats to Iloilo:)
Watch Out this July for the Soon to rise Enchanted Kingdom in Savannah City by Camella in Iloilo… 50has property, more or less, bigger than its main EK in Laguna…the first and only branch of EK outside Luzon. FYI: Mr.Mamon owner of EK is from Iloilo, Camella owner Mr.Villar roots is also in Iloilo/Guimaras. Great Ilonggos giving back huge projects in their homeland. Go Iloilo the Original “Queen City of the South”!
lol cebu queen city of the south by the ph. gov.. iloilo queen,s city of the south by the quuen of spain.and shes dead?.lol.. so nobody grab the title from iloilo?.. no matter what. you can’t surpass the Cebu in terms of infra, tourist etc. even negros occ. is now catching iloilo..take note ilo2 is older city than bacolod. i think 50 yrs older. see? i believe bacolod will surpass iloilo in the next 10 yrs..
YOUR TALKING NONSENSE JUST GO TO ILOILO AND ENROLL HERE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES MIAG-AO AND UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES MOLO, THATS IT! LOL!
Having lived and worked both in Iloilo and Bacolod, I couldn’t agree more with this ranking. Personally, I love these Hiligaynon speakers and they’re very close to my heart. Both Bacolod and Iloilo are not that developed compare to Manila, Cebu or even to Davao but nevertheless life in these two cities is really good. Oh and I’m Swiss by the way working for an NGO in the Philippines.
Iloilo the only city in the philippines publish by the cnn news international to be the next tiger city in asia, the only city in the philippines mayor ranked 5th among top ten cities all over the world, the fast progressive economy in the philippines the city host by the apec summit attended by the ambassadors from all over the world and now welcoming the megaworld,, gaisano city corporation, the bgst gaisano in the philippines the cnter of education with almost 20 universities with two big goverment university which is

Sir known ang iloilo as “Queen’s City of the South” ….ang cebu ya Queen City …:)
Great job for Bacolod and Iloilo… Bacolod has less traffic, wide streets and you can commute easily. It also has low crime rate..
The 2nd time I went to Iloilo alone this year, It was my first time to commute around the city, and I’m also amazed that the city is highly moving up in terms of Infrastructure and Investments .
I am happy for both . I am a big fan of both cities.
i was there last month and i can see iloilo’s mini vegas night life. . of course less casinos. . but overall i am impressed. .
ha ha ha Iloilo has streetview in Google now. You can roam around Iloilo at the comfort of your own computer. .cool. Only Manila and part of Luzon, Guimaras Island, and part of Gen Santos City have this, where people all over the world can actually see what’s in there. Not even Cebu, Bacolod nor Davao has this. . Iloilo is now in the world stage. . .
http://philnews.ph/2015/11/19/coa-report-cebu-province-is-the-richest-province-in-the-philippines/
street view?? ara ho? top ang cebu dala negros occ kg or. hahaha
din da ang Iloilo?
hahahah, conceited, claiming to be the best city in the visayas? seriously?.. just looking at their infrastructures, Cebu seemed better than that city.
Wow congrats Iloilo. I love the people in this city they are so warm. I am a true blue Cebuano and I enjoyed the Ilongo hospitality during my stay. I am glad that our country being diverse in culture, ethnicity and geography can be called one country. Truly amazing and colorful PHILIPPINES
I Love Negros … heheheheh 😉
Iloilo City has transformed from a sleeping city into a vibrant, progressive and livable city in the Philippines. Well, give more like 5-10 years and Iloilo City will reclaim its very own title as the Queen City Of The South which Cebu City currently holds. Nonetheless, Iloilo City has many titles already like The Heart of the Philippines, The City of Love, Festival Capital of the Philippines, The Next Big Thing, Pioneer City of the Philippines, Museum City of the Philippines, City of Many Firsts, the recently added as The Most Livable City in the Philippines and many more.
Iloilo City has many sights and wonders to offer where the past and the present are uniquely interwoven through its landscape modernization and historical edifices preservation. If I were to describe the picture of Iloilo now it would be like a beautiful butterfly which just came out from a cocoon. Business opportunities are booming, people live safe and happy, and the city building landscapes are transforming drastically and ofcourse old mansions, churches and historical buildings were just restored to its perfect grandeur.
For food and adventure, you can enjoy the famous La pAz Batchoy and island hopping in guimaras island and Gigantes islands in Carles.
lol reclaim hahahaha
Iloilo is Queens City of the South. Cbu is Queen City of the South.. see the difference? Theres no reclaiming that will happen. 😊
I don’t think Ilo-Ilo can reclaim the title as Queen City Of the South. Its too late. hahah.. Cebu is the rightful and the undisputed Queen City of the South in almost all aspects.
I love bacolod … people are more friendly compare to iloilo but the development iloilo ahead to bacolod .. peace both iloilo and bacolod are nice place..
Proud to be illonggos..dont fight we speak one dialect.
There are much nicer picture of CDO than what is posted here. lol The photo here’s too kawawa. LOL
Walang update sa CDO picture….. but smile parin…..

G where is taguig? Home of bonifacio global city
…. Go visit it … Its like Singapore ….
gakasubo gid ko magbasa sg comments nga indi maayo ah..iloilo vs bacolod..why are we always trying to bring each other down?when do we start to love one another and hold each other’s hand towards peace and prosperity??why why why??wake up people..be mature..when do we start to accept each other’s inequities??we always say that we are educated but we do the other way around….we must admit, kada isa sa aton may pagkatikalon man ah…pro kung ang ila sg iban sobra, intindihon ta nalang…proud ilonggo here…
I saw a comment from Iloilo na magkadto ang taga Bacolod sa Cebu gatagalog hahahaha alangan naman ilonggohon mo sila or ma english ka gid?pero peace lang ta tani migo kung sin-o ka man kay same lang man ta Ilonggo haha 😊 “Ang kwarta gina piko gina pala” sa Iloilo na halin migo and there’s nothing wrong with that siguro.
Nag stay man ko sa Cebu for 5 years since ilonggo ko so nagatagalog ko kay indi ko kainchinde sang una asta na kabalo na ko magbisaya kay ang mga Cebuano mabuot kaayo na mga tawo simple and humble kaayo sila and grabe kaayo sila magtabang nimo kung naa kay needs and kung naa kay problems that’s why nindot kaayo magpuyo didto kay naa na jud ang tanang adventures right Cebuanos? 😊😊 and also I really love my hometown BACOLOD the City of Smiles super love ko ni nga City kay indi traffic kag indi polluted unlike sa iban na cities and the best when it comes sa desserts and chicken inasal.
Congratulations Bacolod and Cebu 💜💜 #ProudBacolodnon
I agree with u pre!like cebu than Iloilo,& if booming lng and pgistoryahan wala sa kamalingkingan ang Iloilo sa cebu,so nugay kmu masyado ka boastful,Cebu is more progressive & Booming than Iloilo, kung sa livable city nmn I Love Bacolod coz Life is so Laid Back, and not so polluted compared to other cities mention,so green gd ya…
Iloilo kag Bacolod are brothers. Whether you like it or not. We mostly share common ancestors, culture, and LANGUAGE for god’s sake. If you are with other Filipino folks within or outside the country, you would always befriend someone of the same mother tongue as you do. Kun sin o mas tikalon, that’s a petty argument, may mga Americano man nga tikalon. Kun sin o mas mauswag, let the numbers speak for itself.
Again, we are brothers and sisters, closest in the archipelago for that matter. So no shitting. Okay, just my opinion. TAGA GUIMARAS AKO.
Congratulations City of Love, Iloilo City! It’s been 10yrs since I last saw you! You’ve totally changed for the better and definitely becomes more beautiful just like the Ilonggos. Definitely no place like home. And also, Congratulations to all the Cities who made it to the top 10. 🙂
Kudos! to all the Cities included here…:)
ANG MATUOD BISAN ANO NGA REGION LESS IN LIFE AMO NA TIKALON ANG MAY ARA SILENT LANG…
Pls I’ll be moving with my son to mandaue, cebu soon. Is it true that it’s excruciatingly hot?
Ala ako.paki alam what ever the dialect to be use.
iloilo, bacolod, cebu, wherever in the philippines is almost heaven. . .sick and tired of living in north america where stress in life is endless. . .
I took pity of these Ilonggoys. Doing their job really hard to degrade Cebu, CDO, Bacolod and even Davao – specially on the internet. Creating fake surveys, statistics to favor your city. You are INSECURE. You can never compete with these cities and you can never bring them down. Did you know the secrets behind these citys’ progress? ITS THE PEOPLE’S HARDWORK! You Ionggoys are just good in SLACKING, I GUESS YOU GOT THIS ATTITUDE FROM THE SPANISH WHEN YOU WERE USED TO BE LOYAL SLAVES.
ILCEBA……. is one city where i want to go and visit in Mid Philippines. Then go to DavCag,.. come back to Metro Mla…the biggest Metropolis in Asia..and go as far as Baguio where i can feel the tropics and the lowlands and sea beach resorts of the Ilocos provinces.
Guys when we say livable city it doesn’t means we focused only in infrastructure, its a a superficial understanding of livable is all about. it considered a lots of factors that a city could offer and not only establishments and tall buildings. the province of Iloilo is self sufficient and it ranks in sugar , rice ,corn and mango production not mentioning that Estancia in Iloilo is called the Alaska of the Philippines for its rich fishing ground We have abundance of poultry product like pigs, chickens and goats that we shipped to manila not to mention that Mang Inasal shipped 500 tonnages of chicken a day all over the country .Tourist as well increase 42% in this 2nd quarter alone We have the lowest growth rate in the country of 2.2 % per year for most of us we prefer quality than quantity of our siblings,we create more jobs to our neighboring provinces that if you noticed most of our employees in the shopping malls are from our neighboring provinces. Here in Iloilo you’ll never see children begging for money except the Tausog who is our brothers and sisters from Mindanao. But most of all we produced more goods more than we can consume. Long live Iloilo
mmm lucky for you that your place won’t attract so much people. Unlike Davao which is 400 years younger than your city and its population is growing so fast not by birth rates but by migration. Davao is 4X Bigger than iloilo in terms of population. and 6x bigger in area. we don’t know why it grows so fast considering its not the most livable city in PHL but has the most number of foreign students and one of the places with biggest concentration of International migrants. a reason other countries put up their Satellite embassy in Davao. Now that President is from Davao, it is pushing form federalism inorder to develop on its own without the mercy of Manila. for now it is the fastest growing population by migrant and we do hope we could maintain a livable life like Iloilo or Bacolod as you said. It is still easier to manage Iloilo + Bacolod for its still smaller combined population tHan Davao. Even though your co,mbined incoime is lesser than what Davao earns atleast you have a better life than us in Davao. Congratulations to your City
Congratulation for Iloilo and Bacolod. I think the key for your success is controlling Birth control and migration. Your population is Not growing so fast. comparing to my City (Davao) which is 400years younger than you city it already had a population Bigger than combined Iloilo and Bacolod. It may have an income bigger than your both combined income but lucky for your city you can control you population and maintain a quality life. While Davao is growing so fast by Migration and not by birth. I don’t understand why people are migrating to Davao City so fast even it is not the most livable City in phils. Anyway congatulations to both your city.
Roxas City 🙂
