Samal Island Beach Resorts: Where to Stay
An overwater house, a villa with its own pool and a garden cottage can all appear under the same search for Samal Island beach resorts. They offer very different holidays. The room you choose—and how you reach it—can matter as much as the resort name.

This guide compares seven overnight options on Samal’s main island. Start with the feature you actually want: Pearl Farm’s overwater accommodation, Discovery Samal’s private-pool villas, Paradise Island’s activities and group arrangements, or a smaller cottage-style stay. Then compare the exact room, meals and transfers included in your booking.
Samal is a separate city in Davao del Norte, across the water from Davao City. Davao is the mainland gateway; a booking described online as “Davao” may still require a sea crossing to your resort.1

Choose the stay before choosing the room rate
Start with the feature you would miss most: an overwater room at Pearl Farm, a private-pool villa at Discovery, or cottage surroundings at Chema’s or Hof Gorei.
For families and groups, compare beds and layout. Paradise, Chema’s, Hof Gorei and Costa Marina offer different shared arrangements. For a pool-focused stay, compare Club Samal’s room positions with Discovery’s suite and villa categories.
Then settle the arrival route. The public Sasa crossing reaches the Babak side; resort boats may use a different Davao departure point. A short crossing time excludes the road journey, waiting and any onward transfer.1
The comparison below uses documented accommodation, facilities and arrival arrangements. Exact-date total prices and current beach conditions remain the final checks.
Limao / Samal main island
Discovery Samal — suites or a villa with your own pool
Consider it for: a resort-centered stay where the room category is a major part of the experience.
Discovery’s useful distinction is between its hotel-style suites and its villas. Junior Suites occupy the middle-level hotel towers and overlook the resort estate. The One Bedroom Villa adds a private yard, its own pool and a separate living area; villa guests also have access to a dedicated villa amenity pool. If private outdoor space is the reason for your trip, that is a specific category to compare—not a feature to assume comes with a suite.2
The property is beachfront, but it extends across different levels. A room in a tower is not the same as a room opening directly onto the sand. Travelers with young children, heavy luggage or limited mobility should ask about the actual route between their chosen room, dining areas and beach.
Discovery uses a dedicated Davao Welcome Center for its boat transfers. Its boat page describes transfers for stay or dining guests as complimentary and first come, first served. Airport pickup is a separate question: confirm it in your selected rate rather than treating a boat transfer as an airport-to-resort package.3
Before booking: check access between levels and whether airport pickup is included.
Adecor, Kaputian / Samal main island
Pearl Farm Beach Resort — overwater rooms and an organized resort stay
Consider it for: couples drawn to an overwater room, or travelers who want meals and transfers arranged around the resort.
Pearl Farm’s Samal Houses stand above the sea. That setting is the reason to look specifically at this category rather than book whichever room appears first. Hilltop Rooms occupy elevated buildings, while Mandaya accommodation sits in a garden setting around a pool, a short walk from the sea. The two-storey Samal Suites provide a different overwater layout again. Choosing Pearl Farm alone does not guarantee the room setting shown in its signature photographs.4
The resort describes an experience including full-board dining and airport and boat transfers—useful if you plan to spend most of the break on site. Check those inclusions against the exact rate, particularly with an online travel agency.5
Arrival is through Pearl Farm Marina, with scheduled resort boats. Have the resort confirm the connection before committing to flights. We found differing departure times on the official site and an Agoda listing, so a copied timetable is not a dependable basis for a tight connection.
Before booking: confirm full-board inclusions and both boat connections. Isla Malipano accommodation is on a separate island.
Caliclic, Babak / Samal main island
Paradise Island Park & Beach Resort — activities and accommodation for groups
Consider it for: families who want activities alongside the beach, or groups comparing nearby rooms with a larger shared arrangement.
Paradise Island combines overnight accommodation with a beach day-out offering. Its published activities include a playground, an aviary, beach games and water activities. That gives families several ways to spend time on site, although activity charges and operation should be checked rather than assumed to be included in a room booking.6
Its room options solve different group needs. Deluxe and Superior accommodation includes duplex configurations described as having a connecting door by the porch; that wording should not be mistaken for a guaranteed internal bedroom connection. Classic Premier rooms are described as near the restaurant and beach. For a substantially larger party, Casa Monina is listed for groups of 20–40 with bunk-bed accommodation—an arrangement to discuss directly, not an ordinary family room.7
Day visitors and advertised live music are part of the resort’s character. If quiet evenings matter, discuss room position relative to the dining and entertainment areas.
The resort’s own boat terminal is at Km 9, Paradise Road, Sasa, rather than the public Mae Wess ferry departure at Km 11.8

Limao / Samal main island
Chema’s by the Sea — garden cottages and individual guest assistance
Consider it for: couples who prefer cottage-style accommodation, or a small family group wanting a shared cottage or cabana.
Chema’s offers a different setting from a hotel tower: cottages and cabanas among greenery beside a small beach. The operator describes an assigned private butler for each room. That combination of cottage accommodation, garden surroundings and individual assistance is the practical reason to put it on your shortlist.9
The published choices include Gardenview and Seaview Cottages for two, cabanas for four, and an eight-person Seaview Family Cottage. The Gardenview Cabana listings distinguish four single beds from two queen beds, a useful detail for friends who do not want to share beds. Choose by the actual configuration, not just the word “family” or “cabana.”10
A sea view is not a promise of direct beach access from the room. Chema’s also accepts day visitors, so the cottage setting should not be interpreted as exclusive use of the resort. Its own boat-transfer instructions name the docking area at Waterfront Davao Insular Hotel, which is another reason not to head to a generic “Samal terminal.”
Before booking: confirm the exact beds; if bringing a pet, check the conditional small-dog/cat policy.
Caliclic, Babak / Samal main island
Club Samal Resort — hotel-style rooms for a pool-focused break
Consider it for: travelers who want a beachfront setting but expect to spend much of their leisure time around a pool.
Club Samal’s pool is a substantial part of its layout, with separate adult and children’s areas. Its hotel-style accommodation includes Deluxe and Poolside King or Twin rooms, plus a Poolside Suite. The distinction is useful: you are choosing a room’s position around the resort as well as its category.11
The official listings give the Poolside King and Twin rooms as 28 square metres and the Deluxe equivalents as 30 square metres. Poolside therefore does not automatically mean larger. Nor does a children’s pool mean a standard room accommodates a family without extra-person conditions; check the booked room’s occupancy and beds.12
Club Samal also hosts social and corporate events. If seclusion matters, ask whether an event overlaps your stay.
Boat-transfer information differs between the official website and Agoda: the former describes a weekend service, while the latter carries a daily-service announcement. Confirm the current operating days, terminal and inclusions directly for your dates.
Before booking: confirm room occupancy, any overlapping events and current transfer days.
Adecor, Kaputian / Samal main island
Hof Gorei Beach Resort — rustic accommodation with a choice of settings
Consider it for: travelers who prefer cabanas and garden accommodation over a conventional hotel-room layout.
Hof Gorei pairs butler-style guest assistance with several quite different places to sleep. Its Beach Front Cabanas are described for two people beside the shore. Gorei Bungalows sit in gardens with paths toward the pool and beach, while the Hillside Round Hut occupies an elevated position. The resort name alone tells you much less than the room category about how you will use the grounds.13
For easy movement between room and shore, compare the beachfront cabana with the actual walking route from a garden or hillside room.
Groups have a different option in the Buddy House, whose published description lists ten single beds. That can be more relevant to friends wanting separate beds than a nominally spacious double room, though the actual occupancy and shared facilities still need confirmation.14
Some official room information includes scheduled boat transfers. Confirm these against the selected overnight rate; day-tour schedules are not necessarily arrival instructions for a staying guest.
Before booking: ask about steps and the overnight transfer package.
Limao / Samal main island
Costa Marina Beach Resort — larger casas to compare for a group stay
Consider it for: families or friends looking at larger shared accommodation and willing to enquire directly with the resort.
Costa Marina’s published room list includes smaller rooms and casas as well as Casa Theresa and Villa Rosario, each listed for ten people. Compare these shared arrangements with booking several smaller rooms, after confirming the beds and occupancy.15
The important limitation is food. The resort’s published rules prohibit outside food and drinks and do not allow grilling. A large casa should therefore not be read as a self-catering holiday house where the group can bring ingredients and cook. Include the likely dining arrangement when comparing the total cost of the stay.
Costa Marina identifies a boat terminal at Km 9, Sasa, shared with Paradise Island. Confirm the boarding arrangements for your resort rather than assuming that a shared terminal means the same ticket or departure.
We did not locate a verified Agoda listing for Costa Marina during this research. Its official site is the direct enquiry route below. The property information here comes from indexed official pages; request current room photographs and written terms before paying.

What to settle before paying
Compare the total stay, not just the room headline
Use the same dates, number of adults and children, and cancellation conditions when comparing properties. Add meals, airport transfers, boat transfers and any extra beds that are not included. A full-board package and a room-only offer are not directly comparable until you account for those differences.
For groups, compare a suitable casa or shared room against several smaller rooms. Room categories, inclusions and party size can change which costs less; this guide does not assign a permanent “cheapest” label.
Match the room to the beach experience you want
Beachfront describes the property’s position, not every room. A garden cottage, tower suite, hillside hut and overwater room can involve different access to the shoreline. Ask for recent photos of the exact category and, if swimming is central to your trip, ask about the beach during your travel dates and lower tides. We have not established a reliable resort-by-resort ranking of swimming conditions.
For mobility needs, ask about the whole journey: boarding the boat, reaching reception, entering the room and getting to dining or beach facilities. Avoid relying on a general accessibility label without details of your actual route.
Confirm the crossing before arranging a tight flight connection
As of October 28, 2026, the Davao–Samal bridge remained an ongoing construction project. Plan on a boat or ferry crossing rather than an operating road bridge.16
Ask your resort for its Davao meeting point, required arrival time, sailing arrangements, late-arrival procedure and return connection. Reserve time for the mainland airport journey as well. Published crossing times describe only one part of the trip, and weather or operating changes can affect boats. For an early flight or late arrival, a Davao overnight may be more practical than trying to force a tight connection.
Check current conditions near the construction area
The bridge’s Samal approach is in Limao, and earlier reporting places the landing works in the Costa Marina–Paradise vicinity. We have not verified the effect on specific guest rooms or beach access. If considering either property, ask whether current works affect the room and beach area you intend to use, and request recent photographs. Do not use the older photographs in this guide as evidence of present conditions.17

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit these resorts without staying overnight?
Several, including Paradise Island, Chema’s and Costa Marina, advertise day visits. A day-use offer is a separate product: it may include different meals, activities or transfer conditions and does not imply a room booking. Contact the resort about your dates rather than using an overnight Agoda rate as a day-pass quote.
Do all resort bookings include boat and airport transfers?
No blanket assumption is safe. Some properties describe complimentary boats or packages with transfers, while others make inclusions depend on the rate or operating day. Airport pickup and a boat crossing are also different services. Get the complete arrangement in writing for your selected booking.
Are these resorts on Talikud Island?
No. The seven properties covered here are on Samal’s main island. Talikud is a separate island within the city and needs its own arrival arrangements. Pearl Farm also promotes accommodation on separate Isla Malipano; this guide’s Pearl Farm comparison concerns its main-island rooms.
Why do the Agoda links use “Davao City” in the address?
These Agoda links use “davao-city-ph” in their URLs; the resorts themselves are on Samal. Match the property name and address, and still plan the crossing.

We compared operator websites, official local information and identifiable Agoda listings. Recommendations about suitability are our interpretation of the documented room layouts, facilities, locations and arrival arrangements. We did not inspect rooms in person or test the service. The photographs are dated and do not verify present conditions.
We left out unsupported review rankings, permanent price claims and conflicting boat timetables. Listing links help you check your dates; they do not establish that a room is available. Costa Marina remains a direct-enquiry option because we did not verify an Agoda listing.
