Panglao has several ways to do a beach holiday. Stay on Alona if you want restaurants and evening activity close by. Look toward Bolod’s beach resorts if sand, a pool and time at the property are the main reason for the trip. Consider Doljo if you would rather build your days around the resort and the western coast. The useful question is not simply which resort looks nicest: it is which location, room and beach access fit the holiday you actually want.
This guide compares eight resorts with different strengths, from a smaller Alona beachfront property to larger resorts with family rooms, suites and private-pool options. These are research-based selections, not a ranked list or firsthand reviews. Property research was conducted on October 30–31, 2026, with final link and advisory checks on November 2, 2026. Choose your beach area first
Panglao Island contains two municipalities: Panglao and Dauis . All eight resorts below are in Panglao municipality. A Dauis address can still be on the island, while a general Bohol search can include accommodation elsewhere in the province. 1

Alona’s concentration of restaurants and dive businesses makes it a practical starting point for visitors who want to go out often. Dumaluan and Doljo offer different beach settings, but “quieter area” is not a promise of silence at every property: events, room position and neighboring businesses still matter. 2
Check the actual pin, not just the barangay. South Palms MGallery has a Tawala address, but it is not on Alona’s restaurant strip. Amorita overlooks Alona from a cliff, while Henann Resort Alona Beach and Alona Vida Beach Resort have direct beach frontage. These differences matter more than a broad location label.

Henann Resort Alona Beach — a large resort without giving up Alona
Henann suits travelers who want a substantial resort and an active beach location in the same booking. Its 400-room scale and three swimming pools give it a different character from a small beachfront inn. The appeal is the combination: you can plan pool time at the property while keeping Alona’s wider dining area relevant to the trip. 3
Its Family Room is particularly useful to compare if separate sleeping spaces matter. The published layout has two bedrooms, with a queen and single bed in one and two single beds in the other. That is a more meaningful distinction for a family than simply being offered a larger bed in a standard room. Confirm the charge and occupancy for everyone in your party. 4
Choose the category carefully: direct pool access belongs to particular rooms, and a beachfront resort does not mean every bedroom faces the sea. If you want an intimate property with very few other guests, its size is a reason to compare another option.
Before booking: Match the name Henann Resort Alona Beach . Henann Tawala has its own beach-access arrangements; do not assume a cheaper listing elsewhere in the group buys the same location or facilities. 5

Amorita Resort — an elevated retreat above Alona
Amorita’s defining feature is its limestone clifftop setting overlooking Alona. It is worth comparing when you want the coast in view and resort time built around its two infinity pools, rather than choosing a room because it opens onto the sand. Couples may find that setting appealing; families can also compare the larger suites. 6
Room choice changes the experience substantially. The Deluxe category has a garden view, while sea-view suites and pool villas are separate products. The two-bedroom sea-view suite offers a king bedroom and a second bedroom with two double beds; a private pool should only be expected when it is explicitly part of the booked category. Compare the room description, not just the most striking photograph in the gallery.
Before booking: Ask the resort to explain the route from your room to the beach, including stairs, if anyone has limited mobility or you are bringing a stroller. The elevated setting is part of its appeal, but it needs to fit your group. Also check that the booking is for Amorita in Bohol , not the brand’s Palawan property.
Direct Alona beachfront
Alona Vida Beach Resort — a smaller stay in the middle of Alona
Alona Vida Beach Resort is a useful comparison if your priority is being on Alona itself without choosing a large resort complex. The property lists 37 rooms, a pool and the connected Coco Vida restaurant. Its strength is the location and smaller scale: it makes sense for travelers who expect to spend time out along the beach rather than use an extensive collection of resort facilities. 7
That central position comes with a room-selection trade-off. The Agoda property notice flags Standard rooms near the restaurant and bar, so light sleepers should ask about music, room position and other available categories. Standard, garden-facing and sea-view options should not be treated as interchangeable. 8
Before booking: Select Alona Vida Beach Resort , not Alona Vida Beach Hill. The beach property says it has no on-site parking because the beachfront is traffic-free. Confirm the vehicle drop-off and luggage assistance, especially for late arrivals or anyone who cannot comfortably manage the final approach.
Beach-focused stays beyond central Alona
Direct beach frontage, Bolod
Bohol Beach Club — a straightforward beach holiday with useful room options
Bohol Beach Club is worth comparing when the daily plan is mainly beach, pool and time together at the resort. Its Bolod location puts it on the Dumaluan beach stretch, rather than in Alona’s dining hub. That favors travelers who want to settle into one property; regular Alona evenings need a transport allowance. 9
The room information provides practical distinctions. Deluxe rooms are listed at 35 square meters, while Beachview Suites are 55 square meters. More importantly for some guests, the resort advertises Easy Access rooms and suites with features including ramp entry, wider doors and bathroom grab bars. Those are useful questions to build a booking around, rather than relying on a generic “accessible” filter. 10
Before booking: Request the exact accessible category if needed and ask about the full route to dining, the pool and the beach. Room adaptations do not automatically establish step-free access everywhere. Travelers with small pets should also request confirmation: the resort identifies selected pet-friendly Deluxe rooms with special policies, not unrestricted pets in every room.

Oceanica Resort Panglao — beachfront room choices at the former South Palms
Oceanica is the property to check if older recommendations led you to South Palms Resort Panglao . It now uses the Oceanica name and lists 78 rooms and villas in Bolod. Do not confuse it with the separate South Palms MGallery resort below. 11
Its most useful distinction is the range of room relationships to the beach. Garden-view and pool-view rooms are different from the Deluxe Beach Front and Premium Beach Front categories. If stepping from your room toward the sand is the reason for the booking, compare those named beachfront categories rather than assuming the entry room provides the same experience. 12
For a group that needs shared indoor space, the Panglao Villa is also worth checking: its published layout has two bedrooms, a separate living area and a dining room. Confirm the approved number of guests and bedding rather than inferring capacity from the villa’s size.
Before booking: Match the current property name, Bolod address and room photographs. Some booking URLs still contain “South Palms”; the listing displayed after opening the link matters. Plan road transport for meals or evenings at Alona.
Separate beachfront resort, Tawala
South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao – MGallery Collection — design and room upgrades that shape the stay
This separate resort opened in 2025 and is worth comparing when the property itself will be a major part of the holiday. Accor describes Bohol-inspired interiors, dining connected with local produce, and experiences linked to South Farm. Those features give it a different emphasis from simply securing a room beside the sea; check which experiences are running and what costs extra. 13
The 188-room resort has clear upgrade choices: Superior rooms with nature or ocean views, Deluxe rooms with pool access, Junior Suites with private plunge pools, and Beach Access Suites. Choose the feature you will actually use. A pool-access room and a private-pool suite are different products, and two double beds should not be taken as permission for four guests. 14
Before booking: The official address is Tawala , but this is not an Alona beachfront hotel. Match the full MGallery name and Accor property C0Q8 . It is separate from Oceanica, even though older links and recommendations may call Oceanica “South Palms.” 15
Doljo resorts: make the property your base

Modala Beach Resort — Doljo beachfront beside a dining and retail area
Modala’s useful advantage is the combination of a Doljo beach resort and neighboring Moadto Strip , with dining and retail options. It is worth comparing if you like the idea of a resort-focused stay but also want nearby places to eat. The resort advertises an infinity pool, a separate children’s pool and a gym. 16
Its room names need a little decoding. Tawhay is the garden-view option; Hayahay is ocean-view; Lantaw Sunset and Lantaw Ocean offer other view categories. Decide whether a view upgrade matters before comparing rates. The official room information lists a two-person maximum despite showing different bed configurations, so families should get the permitted guest arrangement confirmed. 17
Before booking: Check the room’s position and whether any events are scheduled at Moadto. Dining and live entertainment nearby can be convenient, but they are not a guarantee of quiet. Doljo also remains a separate base from Alona; proximity to one dining area does not remove the need for transport to the other.

The Bellevue Resort — a Doljo beachfront stay with larger suites
The Bellevue is worth comparing if you expect to spend much of your holiday at one resort and want options beyond a standard bedroom. Its Doljo beachfront setting, advertised spa and children’s play area support that kind of stay. If the pool is essential to your holiday, read the booking note below before choosing it. Treat it as a base for resort days rather than choosing it for nightly walks around Alona. 18
The room categories make the space trade-off clear. Published sizes range from a 38-square-meter Superior Twin to 71–75-square-meter Junior Suites and 100–110-square-meter Bellevue Suites. Those larger categories may matter if adults and children need more space during downtime, but floor area alone does not establish the number of bedrooms, beds or included guests. 19
Pool check: Agoda carries a rehabilitation notice with planned pool-closure dates of August 20–October 20, 2026, subject to change. Those dates have passed, but reopening was not confirmed in our November 2 check. Ask the resort about current pool operation before paying; do not assume the notice’s end date proves the work is complete. 20
Before booking: Compare Deluxe with Deluxe Ocean View if the view matters to you. Confirm the selected room’s adult-and-child occupancy, bedding and breakfast allowance. The property’s maximum-occupancy figure should not be read as a promise that every person is included in the displayed rate.
Which options fit your trip?
- You want to go out often: Start with Henann Resort Alona Beach or Alona Vida Beach Resort. Compare Amorita if the elevated setting appeals and its beach route works for you.
- You want sand and resort time to carry the holiday: Compare Bohol Beach Club and Oceanica. Add South Palms MGallery if its design, experiences or room upgrades are priorities.
- You want separate sleeping spaces: Look at Henann’s Family Room, Oceanica’s Panglao Villa and Amorita’s two-bedroom suite categories. Confirm each layout and occupancy rather than booking on the word “family” alone.
- You want a Doljo base: Compare Modala for Moadto’s nearby dining, and Bellevue for its larger suite options. Check events, room position and total meal costs at both.
- You are keeping the budget tight: Price-check Alona Vida’s smaller-property format, then compare the same dates against entry categories elsewhere. It is not guaranteed to be the cheapest. An inland room may cost less, but count the beach journeys and any separate day-use fees before choosing it.
The shortlist leans toward properties with documented beach access and useful room information. It is not a complete survey of Panglao’s lowest-priced inns. A lower room rate is only better value if the location, facilities and included guests suit your actual plans.
Arrival and tours: what affects your resort choice
Flying in: Bohol–Panglao International Airport is on Panglao Island. For the resorts in this guide, the onward journey is by road. Ask for a transfer quote for your flight, party size and luggage; do not assume it is included in the room rate. 21
Arriving by ferry: Tagbilaran is a different pickup point, on Bohol’s main island. Panglao is connected by road bridges, so an ordinary transfer to these resorts does not require another boat. Give the driver the ferry terminal and the exact hotel, not simply “Bohol arrival.”
Planning excursions: Chocolate Hills, Loboc River and the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella are mainland outings. Balicasag is a separate marine excursion. A beachfront booking does not establish your tour’s departure point: confirm hotel pickup, meeting place and the operator’s current arrangements. 22
If most days will be spent touring, consider whether you will use an expensive room upgrade. If most days are resort days, access to the sand, pool layout, dining and room comfort deserve more weight. Five checks before paying
- Property and room identity: Match the full name, address, map pin and selected room—not just the first photograph. Be especially careful with Oceanica/South Palms, Henann branches and Alona Vida branches.
- Your full party: Enter every adult and each child’s age. Check extra beds, occupancy, breakfast and whether a “family” room has separate bedrooms.
- The beach you will use: Ask about the route from the room, stairs, low-tide conditions and any temporary access restrictions. Beachfront does not guarantee suitable swimming at every tide or in every weather condition.
- The whole-stay cost: Compare the final total for the same dates and guests, including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms. Confirm whether pool access or activities have additional conditions.
- Anything essential: Get written confirmation for accessible rooms, connecting rooms, dietary needs, pet acceptance or late-arrival assistance. A request entered during booking is not the same as a confirmed arrangement.

Is Alona or Dumaluan better for a first visit?
Choose Alona if restaurants and evening outings are central to your plans. Start with the Bolod/Dumaluan resort options if you want most days to revolve around the beach and property. Neither is automatically better: compare the cost of the room with the meals and journeys you expect to make.
Are Oceanica and South Palms MGallery the same resort?
No. Oceanica is the former South Palms property in Bolod. South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao – MGallery Collection is a separate resort with a Tawala address. Match the current name and map pin, particularly when following older recommendations or a booking URL containing “South Palms.”
Does a beachfront resort guarantee a sea-view room?
No. Beachfront describes the property’s location. Garden-view, pool-view, ocean-view, pool-access and beach-access rooms can have different layouts and prices within the same resort. Book the specific category that provides the feature you want.
Can I stay on Panglao and visit mainland Bohol?
Yes. Road bridges connect Panglao with Bohol’s main island. Treat mainland sightseeing as a separate outing and allow for the journey. Choose a Panglao resort because you also want island or beach time, rather than assuming it places you beside every Bohol attraction.
