Buluan Island: Unspoiled White Sand Beach

Buluan Island is a tourist spot in Zamboanga. The island is located in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Ipil is located in somewhere in the Middle of Zamboanga City, Dipolog City and Pagadian City. Ipil acts like a gateway to these cities.

Buluan Island is privately owned island but the government makes the arrangements to the visitors before they can have a trip to the island.

Do not expect too much since the island is currently not commercialized. There are no resorts or rooms available in the island. The sand is uneven, some areas are smooth some are rough.

Many reminds that before going to the Buluan Island:

  • Make your arrangements to the schedule in the Department of Tourism in Zamboanga. The department of tourism office is located in the Capitol of Zamboanga City.
  • The government takes care of the trips going to the island. Cooperate with them and you got a smooth sailing and safe trip.
  • A speedboat is provided without any rental fees but you will shoulder the need of the gasoline for the speedboat. It could carry 4 persons at a time.

The Buluan Island is beautiful. There are many activities you can do:

  • Swimming
  • Snorkeling
  • Enjoying the views
  • Cruising the island

If you plan to stay during the night, make sure to set up your tents inside the military area for your safety and protection. You can actually enjoy more by setting up a bonfire. That would be very ideal for bonding with friends.

How to get to Buluan Island:

First and for most, if you are in the other island of the Philippines or in the other country, book a flight or a ferry going to Zamboanga City or Pagadian City or Dipolog City. These are the cities in Zamboanga Peninsula.

From the Zamboanga Peninsula (cities as mentioned above), take a rural bus the will pass through or bound to Ipil. At that time, you can take some rest since the travel will take you around 3 hours. You will go to Ipil Port and from there a speedboat will carry you to the Buluan Island. Again, please cooperate with the government before going to the islands for them to make the necessary arrangements.
