Tubbataha Reef: World Renowned Dive Spot

Tubbataha Reef is a remarkable reef system and recognized by the “world” as one of the famous dive spots featured in many articles and renowned magazines. Travel magazine companies recognized Tubbataha Reef as the top 8 dive spot in the world. This amazing spot is one of the reasons why Palawan is considered as the best island in the world.

Tubbataha Reef is located in Puerto Princesa, Palawan situated in Sulu Sea. The reef system is divided into 2: the North and the South which was separated by a deep and wide channel.

Tubbataha Reef is an atoll reef system and a habitat of many marine species which is the Philippines’ first marine park and became a UNESCO World Heritage on December 1993. It has been nominated in the 7 New Wonders of Nature but unfortunately lost the fight.

Tubbataha Reef is rich in marine life such as manta rays, sharks and turtles. Whale sharks are also spotted roaming around. Whale Sharks (Rhicodon Typus ) are growing in number inhabiting the area which are the largest living non-mammalian vertebrates on earth.

These data shows that Tubbataha Reef is a heaven for divers, very tempting and interesting. The beauty of this reef seems to reflect it’s price. The entrance to the reef USD $75.00 which is just fair to think this dive spot needs fund for the ongoing protection and conservation of the park.
