Puerto Princesa Underground River, also called as Subterranean River National Park, is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. It is a long navigable underground river. Entering into the cave is just like entering to a new underground world, mysterious and magical. There you will be amazed by how the time and erosions made the landscapes.

Description:

Puerto Pincesa Underground River is 8.2 kilometers long. It is located in Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan. The river flows directly to the sea so the river is subject to a tidal flow, a soft sailing while enjoying the views. It has formations of stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years. It is a habitat of monkeys, lizards, squirrel, bats and more species.

Important Notes:

There is an Underground River Tour for tourist to experience and witness the beauty of Puerto Princesa but it has to be booked a week before to process the schedules since tours are limited per day. The tour inside the cave alone may take 45 minutes.

 

How to get to Puerto Princesa Underground River:

Puerto Princesa can be reached via air and sea travel. Make sure to check out what’s available in your area.  Air Philippines, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific have flights to Puerto Princesa and you can also catch a Superferry for sea travel.

There are public vehicles in the city proper. You can ask people for routes where you want to go. If you have booked a travel tour, make sure to communicate with them so they can pick you up.
